Discover the Maya History in Yaxchilán and Bonampak from Palenque

Starting point: Palenque

Departure time: 5:30 A.M. from the hotel reception.

Final destination: City of Palenque, Chiapas.

This exciting trip will take you to explore two Maya archaeological treasures: Yaxchilán and Bonampak. Our first stop leads us to the restaurant "11 de Julio," where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast (included) that will give you the energy needed for the day. Then, we continue our journey to the dock, where we will board a boat that will take us to the Archaeological Zone of Yaxchilán.

The Archaeological Zone of Yaxchilán not only impresses with its architecture but also with its 124 texts inscribed on 30 stelae, 21 altars, 59 lintels, and seven diverse inscriptions. These inscriptions tell the story of this ancient Maya city and are an invaluable testament to its culture. You will have time to explore the beauty of Yaxchilán and marvel at its rich history.

After the visit, you will enjoy a meal (not included) before continuing to the Archaeological Zone of Bonampak. The name Bonampak means "painted walls" in Maya, and this site is famous for its stunningly well-preserved rock paintings. In addition to the paintings, you will find stelae and lintels that will immerse you in the world of this ancient civilization.

Finally, we will conclude our tour and transport you back to the city of Palenque, Chiapas.
